Welcome to Word In Action Ministries!

Word In Action, a participating ministry in Bible Quiz Fellowship, is devoted to providing a fun and exciting way for youth ages 11 - 19, to learn God's Word through active competitive Bible Quizzing and to build character by encouraging healthy competition and focusing on the importance of fellowship, evangelism, and discipleship. We are based in Springfield, Missouri, but our quizzers come from all over the southwest Missouri area. Each quiz year we participate in monthly tournaments, regional competitions, and finally the national competition in April.

How do we quiz? At the start of every quizzing season (September) a specific book or books of the Bible are studied. It is from these books that all material for the quizzes of that season are taken. Two or three teams of up to five teens each sit on chairs equipped with electronic sensors. A specific chapter and verse reference is given by the Quizmaster which challenges the participants' knowledge of that material. The first quizzer to stand will trigger a light which gives that quizzer the right to answer the question within a brief time period. The Quizmaster determines if the answer was correct and in time, and if so awards the team the appropriate points. Each quiz lasts twelve minutes, consisting of two six-minute halves.

As quizzers gain experience, their skill level increases to the point where they will often jump even before the quizmaster completes his question; their knowledge of the Bible verses and the strategies they have learned combine to create an exciting competition that is a thrill to participate in.

By joining WIA's Bible Quizzing organization, you will have the opportunity to participate in competitions locally and nationally, from Springfield to St. Louis, St. Joseph, Iowa, and other exciting national destinations from Colorado to Pennsylvania!

The 2009 National Tournament will be  April 22-25 in St Louis, MO.

2008-2009 Quiz Books are still available
